3D Connexion Space Mouse Wireless Problem

So I've had this Space Mouse Wireless for almost a year (?) now and it has had its share of problems.  First it was drifting by itself (like you were leaning on it).  They replaced the unit for me back in the fall.  Then I started running into this problem where I turn on Inventor, usually in the afternoon, and no matter what direction I move the mouse all it does is zoom in & out.  The "technical" specialists over at 3d Connexion cannot for the life of them figure out what is going one here.  I tried plugging in the unit with a wire and they replaced the dongle for me.  They've basically ruled out everything that they are aware of and were insisting that it was my system that was the problem.  For a long time I only had the one system to run it on so moving it to another one wasn't an option............

Until about 2 weeks ago when my laptop died and I got a brand new one (when I figure out how to put my new specs in my signature I will).  I figured "problem solved".  Right?  Wrong!  Same problem.  Different system.  Same software.

I went back to these folks and now they really look bad.  And they still have ZERO clue as to whats going on.

My question is have any of you had similar problems with this device?  Please let me know.  Thanks.

I've had a wired one for a good couple of years, and no problems, so I can't add anything.

Generally I have had poor experiences with wireless peripherals and like stuff plugged in. Can't they swop yours for an ole wired one?

The 3D Connexion support is atrocious at best.

I frequently have a problem with my Spacemouse Pro in Inventor, it seems like if I open another .iam after I've already been working on one a while...or maybe I open a sub assembly to make some tweaks...I can't really consistently replicate it....but I can't orbit...it's like the controller doesn't work at all.

I end up have to restart my system and everything goes back to normal. Simply restarting Inventor does not help it.

I have the same sort of problem, but I can overcome it by just clicking on a different tab and coming back again.

A couple of years ago I had a stick-up (something different) and posted on their forum and got excellent feedback. Beginners luck maybe.

I have 3 wired devices already.  The reason I got the wireless device was to unclutter my desk (my boss likes the way it looks).  One would think that until they've fixed the problem that they would send me a wired one but that would only make them admit that there is a problem.  LOL.  But I have to agree with you.......I never had a problem with any of my wired mice.

Yeah, their customer support pretty much sucks.  Even the software engineers from overseas in Germany can't figure this out.  Every time I call they ask if I've updated to the latest drivers, firmware, etc.  I always tell them "not since when I called last week".  If I stop the 3D Connexion Driver and start it, it sometimes remedies the problem. Hmm, I wonder why they built in those buttons to the start menu?.............

It always fixes the problem if I restart my entire system.
