Forge DevCon – its not just for programmers

Don’t be fooled by the name. Forge DevCon is a developer conference, but its not a conference just for developers (programmers).

(Actually, it’s not just about Forge either).

Don’t get me wrong – if you’re the kind of person who only likes to read sentences that end in a semi-colon, then we have plenty for you. [Editor’s note – Don't worry if you didn’t get that joke then it just means you’re not a programmer. It was also a very bad joke]. But Forge DevCon covers so much more …

Forge DevCon is about understanding the art of the possible … using new technology to simplify and improve your workflows … discovering how industry leaders are finding new ways to solve old problems using new technologies (such as augmented reality, IoT and machine learning) … learning the new technologies that will underpin the next generation of Autodesk products … and meeting (and sharing ideas with) lots of people with similar interests to your own.

As a leader or decision maker at your company, you don’t need to know how to write code for yourself, but you do need to keep up to date with industry and technology trends so you can make the right decisions (and so you can tell your programmers what you’d like them to write for you).

The backbone of this content at Forge DevCon consists of the industry case studies and panel sessions in the AEC and Manufacturing domains – many of which are a convenient 30-minute duration – where early adopters demonstrate and discuss how they have used Forge to solve their business problems. Most of these presentations are related to either the AEC or design and manufacturing industries (of course). Other early adopters and Forge Certified Systems Integrators will be exhibiting, giving you the opportunity to seek help and advice from people with proven track record of successfully helping customers develop and deploy cloud-based solutions that use Forge.

There’s strategy information, delivered by our keynote presenters and in the general Forge roadmap and (more specific) BIM 360 roadmap presentations. And outside these sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to chat with Autodesk product managers and senior leadership to get a personalized take on how Autodesk technology can address your business problems.

Then there are technology trends, including ‘sub tracks’ for:

  • Machine Learning – with presentations by experts from Autodesk, Amazon and Nvidia (who will also be hosting informal self-paced tutorials in the Forge DevLab)
  • Virtual and Augmented Reality – including an opportunity to be one of the first to see the demonstrations created with the new Forge AR/VR toolkit it the Forge ‘Reality Playground’.
  • Internet of Things and data visualization – featuring case studies for both the manufacturing and AEC industries.

If you’re coming to Autodesk University anyway, then why not come a day early and learn more about how Autodesk’s platform for the future of making things can help your business – and all for the low cost of $95.

Or – if you’re going to another conference on Monday, then why not send your programmer to DevCon and ask him to report back to you afterwards.
