A360 Drive is now Read-Only, and will be retired in September 2020

Hello A360 Drive users,

As communicated over the past few months, your A360 Drive is now in read-only mode. We’re rolling this out in waves, so some of you might not see the change for a few days.

We will continue to provide updates in this forum, within A360 Drive, and on this page: https://a360.autodesk.com/a360-drive-update/

  • We have granted an Autodesk Drive entitlement to all Autodesk Subscribers, Students, and maintenance plan users.
  • If you’re not sure whether you have access, look for “Drive” under Products & Services in your Autodesk Account, or simply go sign in to Autodesk Drive.
  • You will continue to have access to your existing A360 Drive files until September 2020
  • Learn more about how to migrate and download your A360 Drive data on our help pages.
  • Autodesk Recap users can still add data through the ReCap application. Visit the ReCap forum if you have questions.

We appreciate your feedback and continued input!

EDIT: I wrote this in response to your earlier question, "How is that effecting Recap uploads?" -- let me reply separately to your new question

-----

Don't worry, you're covered! ReCap is a special case.

ReCap Pro subscribers can upload and edit files in A360 Drive for a few more months.

  • Note: you'll do this from inside the ReCap app. The A360 Drive website has already been moved to Read Only (even for ReCap users).
  • But I believe that's how everyone does it today in ReCap, so there shouldn't be any disruption. Let me know if you have concerns.

The ReCap app will switch to Autodesk Drive in the next couple of months. Here's what that means for you:

  • For new data, you shouldn't notice any difference. The controls & upload process in the app will stay the same -- it will just point to a new cloud system.
  • For existing data in A360 Drive: you will need to move it. But we have a tool that lets you do this with a single click.

You will receive communications about this from ReCap within a few weeks, with clear dates and instructions.

Not sure if I am doing something wrong.
It used to work in May - June 2020.

Interesting, thanks for the details.

Yeah we did have issues with a handful of users when we launched this A360 read-only change (July 27). Something about user entitlements, and which version of ReCap folks were using, etc. So I'll mention your issue to the engineering team that's monitoring those issues.

One question first: how much storage are you currently using? Your image shows "-19.69 GB", which definitely seems like an error to me -- but I'm curious about your total numbers: amount used, and maximum capacity, like this: "You're using 25 out of 100 GB", or whatever.

EDIT: I think that's what you're seeing on the first image (-19.69 GB)... but could you #1 Confirm that, then #2 compare it with A360 Drive web? (Does it say something different from the app)

Thank you for sharing it to engineering team.

If you see the link in my previous post, there are others who have the same issue.

I had 2 projects in the Recap online viewer/A360 Drive, One is 19.7 GB and the other was like 10.2 GB. But when I saw the error I thought may be I am out of space, then I deleted one of them and got the error in the previous screenshot (-19Gb) and yes you are right we have 100GB in total.

And yes you are correct the -19 GB is for the file in the Trash in A360 Drive which is what we are seeing in the screenshot from the app.

The Big number (21137...%) is the screenshot from the Recap online viewer.

Encountered one more problem just now.

I followed this link to view the point cloud online
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/navisworks-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcart...

Followed all the steps correctly for solution 1 and uploaded a 13 GB NWD file to Autodesk Drive (New) and it gave me the following error (see screenshot).

Not sure if its because the file is too big.

Thanks, I'll ask the team that supports Viewer, to see if they have a forum or somewhere to get an answer to that question.

Regarding ReCap:
Our engineering teams found one issue that might be the cause, related to how ReCap talks to A360 Drive, and how it checks your permissions/entitlements.

The fix will be deployed *tomorrow*, by late afternoon US time. After that (perhaps over the weekend), can you re-test? Please close & re-open the app first -- preferably reboot the whole system, since the issue is related to data caching.

If that doesn't fix it, I'll check with you next week to get more information. We haven't received much troubleshooting data from users with this issue, so that will be a big help!

Not sure if you guys already deployed the change you were talking about, but this morning it is working.

Only thing that is not fixed is the storage thing on the Recap online but I don't really use that but it would be nice to have that fixed.

Thank you for all your help.

Thanks for confirming!

And thanks for the details about recap.autodesk.com. They may be merging recap.autodesk.com into Autodesk Viewer (viewer.autodesk.com) in a few months, and as you said, that's a lower-priority feature... so the usage meter might stay that way for a while.

Last question, if you have time: are there any other features you don't use via the ReCap app, but only access via the website (either recap.autodesk.com or a360.autodesk.com/drive)?

  • For example: sharing, download, deleting, etc?

Regarding the failure of this file upload:

There are upper limits on what Viewer or Navisworks can handle in a single file. I believe it's somewhere between 1 and 4 GB... but certainly less than 13!

  • If that's a concern for you, there is a "Feedback" or "UserVoice" link in the app/page.
  • You can describe your needs & use-cases, and that will be sent to the team who owns it.

Did you have any luck with the other two ideas in that article? (Navisworks Freedom, or a 30 day Revit trial)

Hi,

A360 Drive will be discontinued, will A360 continue?
Or was the A360 integrated into the Fusion Team?
Will there be no free storage?

A360 is an umbrella brand over a few different areas, but this accounement here only applies to A360 Drive.

A360 Drive is separate from the A360 that's part of Fusion, for example. So to find the expected lifetime of other A360 products, you'll need to check those teams or view their public roadmaps.

Will there be no free storage?

It depends on exactly what you're asking. A360 Drive and Autodesk Drive currently do not have a free tier (though they are included with any Autodesk product subscription). If you're talking about another product -- like Fusion or Vault or something else -- you'll need to check with those teams.

Hi Ben, re. A360 retirement (1) why is A360 still in the ReCap Photo interface (re-installed March 2021) as the Cloud storage option and (2) why are my migrated files on Drive undownloadable? I have an Edu license as I am a uni student at MMU. Thanks, Ursula

Message 15 of 19

Hi Ursula,

A new version of ReCap should be available in a couple of weeks. That version will publish to Autodesk Drive!

Then you'll have a couple months of "overlap" period, where you can move any remaining data from A360 Drive to Autodesk Drive. You should see more details about that timeline in the ReCap app, and/or in the ReCap forums.

As for your other issue: I'm sending you a direct message to help troubleshoot and figure it out.

Thank you for participating it to engineering team. However, there are others who have the same issue, If you see the link in my former post. I had 2 systems in the Recap online bystander/ A360 Drive, One is19.7 GB and the other was like10.2 GB. But when I saw the error I allowed may be I'm out of space, also I deleted one of them and got the error in the former screenshot (-19Gb) and yes you're right we've 100 GB in aggregate.

Quick update: A360 Drive is now read-only (rolling out gradually).

Great news: Autodesk Drive is available for subscribers, students, and maintenance plan users.
